AFTER THE SERMON-Purpose Resurrected

We hope today’s message was encouraging and helpful. Take a moment to process and discuss what God may be trying to say to everyone in your home or in your community group. If no one is with you, have a personal conversation with God, He is with you.

Scripture: Ephesians 2:10

For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago (NLT). 

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them (ESV).

(Other scriptures referenced: Ephesians 3:10-11; 1 Peter 2:9; 1 Timothy 1:15-16; 1 Peter 1:14-19; 1 Peter 2:11-12).

Overview:

When something is broken or worn, some people throw it away as if it’s purpose and time has run out.  Others can see broken or worn things in a way that they restore or repurpose it.  Maybe you’re like Pastor Ryan, he can see the potential, but doesn’t have the craftsmanship to see it through. Even when we can’t see the potential in ourselves, God sees it. Before God created us, He knew us and He knew our potential. That’s why God found us, saved and resurrected us from our old life, so we could be restored and repurposed for our new life in Christ. You were made on purpose for a purpose and because of the resurrected life, we can discover our purpose filled life.  

Takeaways:

We are God’s Masterpiece!

1. God can take messes and turn them into masterpieces

2. God isn’t embarrassed to call us His masterpiece.

We are valuable!

1. We were bought with the precious blood of Christ.

2. We were worth dying for. 

3. God sees our value more than we see it in ourselves. 

4. We underestimate our value.

We are made on purpose for His purposes!

1. God isn’t embarrassed to display His glory through us. God chose the church to embody His glory.

2. We display the greatness and the holiness of God. 

We are empowered for good works! 

1. God chose to demonstrate His good works through you.

2. Philippians 2:13 For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.

Discussion:

1. What stuck out to you from today’s message and why?

2. What kind of person are you? Can you see broken things and fix them? Are you like Pastor Ryan where you see it but don’t know how? Or do you lean more towards, well it’s broken let me throw it away?

3. Do you feel like a masterpiece? Why or why not?

4. What do you think, does estimating our value lower than it should affect what we do with our lives?

5. What would you start doing for God if you saw your true potential and value?

6. What good works have you seen flowing from your life since salvation?

Pray:

Let’s pray that we will see our lives through the lens of scripture. Let’s pray that we will become all that Jesus died to make us.
