AFTER THE SERMON-Hope Is Real
We hope today’s message was encouraging and helpful. Take a moment to process and discuss what God may be trying to say to everyone in your home or in your community group. If no one is with you, have a personal conversation with God, He is with you.
Scripture: 1 Peter 1:3-5 NIV & NLT
(If you’re going through this discussion with a community group this week we recommend taking the time to read through the provided scripture to catch everyone up!)
Overview:
Pastor Ryan shared that our hope in Christ is a living, eternal hope, something this world will never be able to deliver. Too often this world and even believers can put our hope in things or people that will let us down. Pastor Ryan called this misplaced hope. He even said we can put our hopes in God in the wrong way because we expect God to do something He never promised. The Jewish people hoped for a ruler to conquer all nations, but Jesus came to conquer sin and death. Jesus offers way more than what this world or any person on earth can offer. “God put a huge sign over Jesus, as if to say, DON’T BOTHER LOOKING ANYWHERE ELSE!”
Takeaways:
Pastor Ryan shared the following truth statements with us:
It’s hard to believe hope is real when your hopes keep getting dashed
The greatest pandemic in mankind is our sin.
Hope is a person and His name is Jesus The Apostle Paul reminds the church about the good news of the Resurrection 1 Corinthians 15:1-8; 12-22.
In Jesus, we get more than what we hoped for! Mary got more than what she hoped for Luke 24:1-8; John 20:16-18
Pastor Ryan ended with a powerful statement after sharing about Mary’s experience: “Mary’s hope was aimed too low. Don’t look for an earthly hope, look for an eternal one. And don’t look for a living hope in a dying world. We must look to the eternal, living one, Jesus Christ!”

Pray:
Invite everyone to say a simple prayer related to the message or whatever is on their heart (If someone is shy, don’t force it).
