AFTER THE SERMON-Strong & Courageous Together
We hope today’s message was encouraging and helpful. Take a moment to process and discuss what God may be trying to say to everyone in your home or in your community group. If no one is with you, have a personal conversation with God, He is with you.
SERIES: TOGETHER
Sermon Title: Strong and Courageous Together
Main Scripture: Mark 16:15-18; Acts 2:4-8
Other scriptures mentioned: Acts 3:1-11; Acts 4:1-31
(If you’re going through this discussion with a community group this week consider taking the time to read or paraphrase through some of the provided scripture to catch everyone up!)
Overview:
Pastor Ryan wrapped up our Together series taking us through a journey of the early church going into the world to make disciples (devoted followers) of Jesus. We discovered that we are not alone because the Holy Spirit goes with us and that there is strength in numbers. Peter and John were obeying the command to make disciples and when resistance hit, the Holy Spirit showed up in big ways. We read a beautiful and powerful moment where the church gathers together to pray in Acts 4:23-31 and their prayers were BIG! Pastor Ryan encouraged us to be a strong and courageous church on mission for Jesus and we do that by coming together as one body to reach the lost and lean into God when things get tough. Takeaways:
There truly is strength in numbers
We don’t reach the world alone, we go together and we go with the Holy Spirit
God is our majority
We don’t need a crowd to be confident in our faith, we have God’s Word.
Let’s take a look at our prayer lists are they all about us or do they include the mission of God?
God stretches out His hands of healing when we are willing to go be His hands-on earth.
When opposition comes we lean into God and lean on each other.
Discussion:
What did you take away from today’s message?
What did you sense the Holy Spirit was saying to you during this message?
Share a moment when felt the Holy Spirit work through you to minister to someone…
What do you think helped Peter and John stand before the intimidating council with courage?
Who are you currently “GOing” to that we could pray for together? What do you want to pray specifically for?
Pray:
Heavenly Father, we echo the prayer the early church prayed… “O Lord, hear their threats, and give us, your servants, great boldness in preaching your word. Stretch out your hand with healing power; may miraculous signs and wonders be done through the name of your holy servant Jesus.” Amen!
We hoped you found this AFTER THE SERMON discussion helpful for your walk with Jesus. We pray you can find ways to apply it this week!
