AFTER THE SERMON-The Bridge to God

We hope today’s message was encouraging and helpful. Take a moment to process and discuss what God may be trying to say to everyone in your home or in your community group. If no one is with you, have a personal conversation with God, He is with you.

SERIES: Building Bridges

Sermon Title: The Bridge to God

Main Scripture: Luke 15

Other scriptures mentioned: Colossians 1:19-22; Romans 5:6-8; 1 John 4:9-10

(If you’re going through this discussion with a community group this week consider taking the time to read or paraphrase through some of the provided scripture to catch everyone up!)

Overview:

Pastor Ryan did a soft launch to our new series today as we celebrated lives who have crossed over from death to life. Pastor Ryan showed us the heart of God for sinner’s in Luke 15 and how much He loves when we repent and the lost is found. We learned that Jesus is the way to God, He is the bridge. Scriptures like Romans 5, 1 John 4 and Colossians 1 shows us God initiated the construction of our restored relationship with Him when He sent Jesus down to give up his life as a sacrifice for us on the cross. The love and sacrifice of the cross became a bridge that offers salvation and a way to be in a relationship with God, again. Pastor Ryan finished the message by inviting anyone who wanted to come home to cross that bridge by admitting their need for salvation in Jesus and believing God loves and forgives them.

Takeaways:

The most important bridge you'll ever cross is the one that leads to God.

Jesus is the bridge to God.

God did the work through His Son to make a way for us to come back home to Him.

You can’t escape God’s love.

God pursues you if you’re lost or He is waiting for you with open arms when you return.

Jesus crossed the great divide of eternity to seek and to save us.

God has brought you into his own presence, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before him without a single fault.

Discussion:

What was one big takeaway for you from this message?

What did you sense the Holy Spirit was saying to you during this message?

Why do think the priests weren’t happy about Jesus reaching sinners?

What is something that you lost but never found again? How did it make you feel?

Do you think Christians are concerned enough for the one that goes missing? Why or why not?

What can we do to start bringing people to the bridge of Jesus? What can you start building?

Pray:

Heavenly Father, we are amazed at your unfailing, relentless love for us. We are amazed that you care about each of us individually and as a whole. Thank you for being a loving Father. We pray that all sinners would see their sin for what it is and may they realize your tenderhearted mercy. May you convict sinners out of love so they will repent and come home. Help us to have your heart towards unrepented sinners and build bridges that would share this message. In Jesus’ name, Amen!

We hoped you found this AFTER THE SERMON discussion helpful for your walk with Jesus. We pray you can find ways to apply it this week!
