AFTER THE SERMON-So All May Know

We hope today’s message was encouraging and helpful. Take a moment to process and discuss what God may be trying to say to everyone in your home or in your community group. If no one is with you, have a personal conversation with God, He is with you.

Scripture: Acts 20:16-24

(If you’re going through this discussion with a community group this week consider taking the time to read or paraphrase through some of the provided scripture to catch everyone up!)

Overview:

Paul knew God’s purpose and plan for his life. In Acts 20:24 Paul basically says no matter what awaits me tomorrow…”my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God.” We’ve been going through a roller coaster of a year for us American’s haven’t we? It’s hard to make plans and even know what God wants the church to do when things keep interrupting or changing all around us. Trials didn’t stop Paul, nor the early church. The Christian Church knew that the vision God has will prevail. Pastor Ryan encouraged us to focus on what we can because God’s vision for the church remains no matter what may come. God wants to be in a love relationship with us, He wants us to love one another and he wants us to love and reach the unreached. Go and be faithful to that vision and mission, So All May Know!

Takeaways:

  1. We don’t know what awaits us but we know God will lead us. (God has not changed)

  2. We don’t know what awaits us but the message remains the same. (God’s message has not changed)

  3. We don’t know what awaits us, but the mission must go on. (God’s vision and mission has not changed)

No matter what awaits us next, lets be faithful to...

  1. Love and worship God.

  2. Be together to love and encourage one another.

  3. Be disciples who reach the unreached.

Discussion:

  • What was a big takeaway from this message for you?

  • Let’s get real, has the past five months felt like a roller coaster? Why or why not?

  • What seemed to help Paul get through the difficult times?

  • What’s the value of knowing your purpose and sticking to it?

  • How’s your love and worship of God going?

  • Pastor Ryan shared how vital it is that we be together again, why is that important?

  • Who is someone you can pray for now that is unreached, doesn’t know or follow Jesus?

Pray:

God, we thank you and praise you. We recognize that you have been faithful through these past 5 months. We recognize that you, your message, and your mission has not changed. Help us to be faithful to you, your message and mission in a constantly changing world. Be with and guide our church, our leaders and us. We recommit ourselves to your vision. In Jesus name, amen!

We hoped you found this AFTER THE SERMON discussion helpful for your walk with Jesus. We pray you can find ways to apply it this week!
