AFTER THE SERMON-The Holy Spirit Is Essential

We hope today’s message was encouraging and helpful. Take a moment to process and discuss what God may be trying to say to everyone in your home or in your community group. If no one is with you, have a personal conversation with God, He is with you.

Scripture:  Luke 24: 45-53

Other Scripture:  Acts 17:6, Acts 5:32, Acts 2:38-39, Hebrews 12:1-2, Psalm 142:6, Hebrews 4:16, Psalm 42:1-2, Ezekiel 43:12,  I  Thess. 5:22, Hebrews 10:25, I Peter 2:2

Overview:

The Baptism of the Holy Spirit was so essential to God that Jesus promised it to his disciples.  He told His disciples to wait in Jerusalem until they were filled with the power of the Holy Spirit before going out to be witnesses to their surrounding world. The disciples experienced hunger and thirst that caused them to obey and seek the fulfillment of this promised power for ministry.

Do we have the same desperation and passion to wait on God for that power today?  God knew that the disciples desperately needed the Holy Spirit’s power to carry out a world-changing ministry. We, too, need this same power for these last days for what is about to happen.

Takeaways:

  1. If Jesus felt the disciples needed the Holy Spirit’s infilling then, how much more do we need it today in our broken society?

  2. Whatever our new normal becomes, we desperately need to bring God’s presence and power with us.

  3. Don’t lose the hunger and thirst for God you developed during the weeks of quarantine.

  4. There is never a time we should not be in search of having more of God.

  5. We need the Holy Spirit for whatever is coming next in our world

Discussion:

  1.  What stood out to you from today’s sermon on The Holy Spirit’s power being essential?

  2. What are we doing with the call to be witnesses and how are we handling that?

  3. What are we doing that shows we are desperate for God?

  4. What might we do that the disciples did to make sure we’re filled with the Power of the Holy Spirit?  (Acts 5:32)

  5. Which scripture shared today stood out to you, challenged you, or inspired you?

Challenge:

Appetite for more comes from tasting things. Get alone with God more this week than you ever have so your appetite and habit for His presence increases!

Pray:

God, we want all that you have to offer us. We thank you for the presence of the Holy Spirit. Fill us as we wait, worship, pray and enjoy our time with you.

We hoped you found this AFTER THE SERMON discussion helpful for your walk with Jesus. We pray you find ways to apply it this week!
