FAITH OF MOSES

We trust today’s message encouraged and guided you in your journey of following Jesus. These notes are meant to help you remember and reflect on the message, help you go deeper into study on the subject, or be used for a sermon group discussion.

Sermon Title: FAITH OF MOSES

Main Scripture: Hebrews 11:23-29; Exodus 2:1-9, Exodus 11:4-7

If you’re going through this discussion with a community group this week consider taking the time to read the provided scripture to catch everyone up!

Summary:

Where you put your hope is where you put your faith. We see in this story that Moses’ family puts their full faith in God. We see Moses hold onto his identity in God even when Egypt offers him everything. We heard about Moses’ reluctant obedience, yet he obeyed anyway.

Notes:

Hebrews 11:23

  • Moses’ Parents are extremely obedient with the pressure of Pharoah’s guard

searching for baby boys to kill.

  • We read Moses’ family's actions were not out of fear, but out of faith. Even though it

    looked like it was fear.

  • Our faith, especially parents/guardians can have an extreme impact on the faith of others.

Exodus 2:1-9

  • Moses’ family was obedient even when it came to letting Go!

  • Moses went from being hunted by Pharaoh to being protected by Pharaoh. His family

ended up with an incredible deal to raise Moses and be paid by Pharaoh’s house.

Hebrews 11:24-27

  • FAITH IS KNOWING WHO YOU ARE IN CHRIST! If your faith is rooted in Jesus you

will be able to withstand all the temptations and plans of the enemy.

Moses’ Calling (ex 4:1-17, Exodus 7:1-7)

  • We see Moses’ reluctance to fulfill God’s mission.

Plagues of Egypt

Discussion:

  • Who were the people in your life whose faith has had a huge impact on your faith?

  • Have you ever had to be obedient in Faith, amidst a fearful situation?

  • How does the temptation of Moses compare to the temptation of Jesus (matt 4:8-10)?

  • Imagine explaining the truth of identity in christ to a new believer. What does that

phrase mean? How would you explain it?

  • After reading the call of Moses. Have you ever felt unqualified or reluctant to do what

God has called you to do?

    • How did you respond?

  • Why do you think God allowed for there to be 10 plagues throughout Egypt (does all this calamity seem excessive)?

Pray Together

We hope you found this AFTER THE SERMON discussion helpful for your walk with Jesus. We pray you can find ways to apply it this week!
