(If you’re going through this discussion with a community group this week consider taking the time to read or paraphrase through some of the provided scripture to catch everyone up!)

Overview:

Pastor Ryan unpacked the truth that Jesus, the Prince of Peace, and Emmanuel, God with us came to earth. In Jesus, we find peace for our journey through this life. We’ve had a challenging year. The promise of God is while we will have trouble here on earth, Jesus overcame it and lives with us. Because Jesus is with us we are not alone and we can experience peace in the darkest and hardest of days. Peace is a person and His name is Jesus. Jesus dwells in and with us through the Holy Spirit! That’s why the Spirit of peace and joy can carry us through 2020 and whatever may come in 2021!

Takeaways:

  • Life is going to have it’s storms. The Bible never promised still waters on this earth.

  • Can you imagine life without the peace of Jesus with you?

  • In life, we will experience storms...the question is will we have Jesus to get through them?

  • We can experience peace on earth because God is with us.

  • We don’t have to go through this difficult world alone, God wants to be with us.

  • The Bible doesn’t promise peace on earth apart from Him He promises peace on earth with Him.

  • The peace of Jesus transcends all human understanding and works through all circumstances to give us peace.

  • Now may the Lord of peace himself give you his peace at all times and in every situation. The Lord be with you all.  2 Thessalonians 3:16

Discussion:

  • What was one big takeaway for you from this message?

  • What scripture verse stuck out to you and why?

  • What did you sense the Holy Spirit was saying to you during this message?

  • How can we apply this message to our lives going into the new year?

Pray:

Dear God, I pray the peace and light of Christ will fill our hearts. Thank you for your mercy and forgiveness for our sin. We believe and trust in the reason Jesus was born and the work He has done to bring peace to our relationship with you. Lord of peace, have mercy on us and calm the storms we are facing in our world right now. As we choose to follow Jesus may we follow His light that leads us on the path of peace. Amen!

We hoped you found this AFTER THE SERMON discussion helpful for your walk with Jesus. We pray you can find ways to apply it this week!
